Sorry you folks are still so hot. We are in the mountains of Guatemala at 4,000 feet and we needed blankets last night. It is a beautiful area--very green. We crossed the border yesterday after long days traveling through Mexico. We DID NOT have any problems. The border at Texas was the easiest crossing yet. It helps that our leader is fluent in Spanish and knows the ropes. We stayed one night in a small village on the Gulf where he had taught English in school. Not a tourist town so we had a nice welcome. The next day we had a boat ride on the local river through the mango trees. If we are able to send pictures the one of the boy with the big crab was on a boat on the river. This internet connection is very weak so the pictures may wait for another day. We have been joined by our leader's friend,Mari, who is from Guatemala. She will go all the way with us. She is a midwife, tiny and pretty. She's trying to learn English and we're trying to learn some Spanish so our Heafie(Leader) has a lesson everynight. We may learn something yet. The motorhome is doing well considering the roads have been awful with huge holes and many, many topees(speed bumps)
We will cross the border into Salvador tomorrow and plan on staying in a beautiful National Park.
Love to all,
Gerry and Bill

Border Crossing
We are ready to cross into Mexico in the morning of July 21,2011. We have been parked in an R.V. park at Alamo, Texas for a few days. We traveled the 1100 miles from Paducah without incident. The weather is very hot, Our leader, Norman Yelland, has given us much information and paper work. There are many details to see to. The folks from Australia have not shown and may meet up with us in South America.
Norman has been on this trip 13 times so he knows the route. He and his son did an inspection of our motorhome this morning and didn't miss anything. We had to put on new wiper blades but otherwise we are good to go. Our route takes us to Tampico the first day. Since the paper work at the border takes time this will be a long day. We have a road log but it will probably change daily due to local conditions.
The excitement builds as Norman talks about what we will see such as 100s of pink flamingos, storks, and thousands of penguins.

Travel Map
Here is a map showing the latest trip routing that we have. We are pretty certain that we will not ship back from Venezuela because Uncle Hugo is acting up again. Anyway, we'll up-date you as soon as we know anything.

Our New Home
Our new home awaits. I t is a 24ft. Winnebago Vista with one Slide. This gives us a bit more room but the quarters are pretty tight. Our goal is to leave July 15th for Alamo, Texas. We will meet with our fellow travelers and wagonmaster on July 19th.
We still have many details to see to. We must think clothes for hot and cold weather. That's hard with this heat wave.
